Tribute

Through the eyes of a child their father is always a hero. Please be patient and read my words regarding my father Stephen C. Kurlowicz. I hope you all are able to see the remarkable man I saw. Stephen was a son, brother, father, grandfather, friend and partner. He was a single father of three, one of which being my older sister who has Down Syndrome. As I grew up observing his actions I never realized how special he was until my adulthood. Anytime anyone EVER needed help he was there to lend a hand, without question, without concern for himself, he would immediately ask what he can do to provide. My sister Marisa has a very innocent and kind spirit and my father never let that lessen. He was her entire world from her birth until his passing. He assured that Marisa was always happy and had the best possible care. The day to day tasks are what put things into perspective. Everyday without fail he would call her programs to coordinate with her schedule, make sure she got on/off her bus in the morning/afternoon, answer her calls/texts throughout the day, make her breakfast/lunch/dinner, after every single shower she would go to him for him to blow dry and brush her hair, he helped in every aspect of her livelihood, there are too many things to list. Thanks to him she has been part of many programs such as special Olympics, summer camps, dance classes/recitals, drumlines, theater, day programs, etc. It is difficult to try to convey the love/care he had for her. He was her father and best friend. For my brother and I we knew that at any time of need he was there for us, without exception. He was a stoic man that was quiet, level headed, and to himself. As you can see from the photos he looked like a rugged motorcycle biker haha, but the moment you'd speak to him you'd realize how soft and kind of a soul he had. He guided all three of us through life by himself, solely on his shoulders. He was a devout catholic going to church every single Sunday without fail as well as being a member of the Knights of Columbus. One thing that I respected the most about his religious views is he did not seek any approval. He was a man of silent faith, never speaking about his religion to others, or letting it be known, it was his religion and his own personal journey with God. The best way to describe Stephen is he was a man of actions. He would always make sure others were put before himself. Again, it is difficult to try to express the extraordinary person he was. Thank you all for taking a moment to read about him. In loving memory of my father Stephen Charles Kurlowicz 12/04/1963 - 3/20/2024. Love always -TJ
